A mother in Wirral, UK, has withdrawn her teenage daughter from school and begun homeschooling after repeated incidents of racial abuse were reportedly ignored by the school’s leadership.

The student, of mixed-race heritage, endured ongoing racist taunts and harassment from fellow pupils. According to her family, the abuse took place over a sustained period and had a serious emotional impact, damaging the teenager’s mental health, self-esteem, and ability to engage with her education.

Despite raising concerns with the school on multiple occasions, the family says no meaningful action was taken. The lack of response left the perpetrators unpunished and failed to create a safe learning environment.

Faced with the growing psychological toll on their daughter, and the school’s apparent unwillingness to intervene, the parents made the difficult decision to withdraw her and continue her education at home.

The school has not issued a specific response to the allegations.

This case highlights wider concerns about how racism is addressed in UK schools, particularly in areas where minority students are underrepresented. We continue to advocate for systemic reform, including mandatory staff training, robust anti-racism policies, and a zero-tolerance approach to discriminatory behaviour.
